I am confused as hell !! (LOL) Why is it that at some places I read that Kundalini awakening is necessary ste?

for enlightenment/ liberation whereas at other places I read that it is a shorter way , risky but not necesary for enlightenment?? Arent there any people in this age with genuine first hand knowledge and information? Obviously both of them cant be correct!
