Mothers who did not give their child a pacifier?

i dont think babies need a dummy, its just given to them so they get used to it, i have never given my son one and neither has my sister and they have been fine, i dont like the idea of everytime they cry shove a dummy in their mouth, if my son has cried then i have soothed him myself or found the cause of the cry,i know girls who chose to do it as a lazy way to shut them up and i didnt choose to do it.
